HONG KONG The Beas River Equestrian Centre, being the largest in Hong Kong, houses 257 horses and provides world class facilities including a riding school, livery yard, competition centre, rehabilitation and retraining unit, as well as a spelling unit for Hong Kong’s racehorses. The Head of School Line (HOSL) reports to the Senior Manager Equestrian, BREC (SME). He/She will be responsible for, but not exclusively, the duties listed below: 1 Deliver quality services to HKJC Members , their guests and BREC clients: - conduct riding lessons and schooling sessions for BRRS and Livery Members - organise equestrian activities for Members, ensuring excellent quality service - be open to feedback from colleagues & clients and improve performance accordingly - support administration team to provide timely and efficient services to Members - solves members’ riding class or livery schooling issues. - Organise and manage all Riding School Shows 2 Enhance riding establishment safety standards: - follow HKJC & BHS safety directives, observe & promote safety guidelines & initiatives - consistently allocate BRRS horses for schooling to maintain good behaviour and well being - manage tack & equipment to ensure safety & optimum fit for horses, record findings - ensure the highest standards of welfare and manage the overall well-being of BRRS horses - attend regular EAD OSH meetings, share the information with the team and ensure they work safely. - plays an active role in the safeguarding committee; react and report when there is any safeguarding issue. - Ensure the role of a heat stress assessor to do the yearly heat stress assessment - Liaise with BHS on a regular basis and ensure all updated informations are shared with the team. 3 Manage BRRS Horses and Ponies: - support stable operations, Veterinarians and Farriers and the Saddler in day to day horse management - attend weekly vet inspection of BRRS horses under veterinary care - communicate instructions from professional staff and ensure they are followed by supervisors, coaches and EA’s accordingly - manage up to date feed records for BRRS horses - plan, implement and record weekly schooling & rehabilitation plans for BRRS horses - review, allocate and manage BRRS horse utilisation for lessons and competitions entries to ensure horse welfare and best practise is followed - Support the Perfomance and Senior coaches to plan and implement the training of BRRS/ Pool horses to improve their performance and level for competitions 4 Upgrade staff competency and qualifications - make the most of developmental & career opportunities offered - provide on-job-training to colleagues - encourage exam targets & career progression through BHS Professional Pathway - Coordinate the weekly staff training program for all BHS levels (1-4) - Organise and coordinate yearly BHS exams for BREC staff 5 Liaise with other HKJC Departments, government departments and private sectors upon request of Senior Manager Equestrian: - assist with & support BREC events & clinics – encourage clients to participate - promote equestrian sports off site through roadshows and HKJC Events - Organise and coordinate yearly BHS exams for PRS and Private Riding Schools or external candidates. - Ensure that BRRS succeed as a BHS Accredited Riding Centre through the yearly inspection - Communicate and arrange the husbandry placement as well as practical opportunities for vet students from different universities. 6 Align with Senior Manager Equestrian to manage day-to-day operations: - aim to continually increase the efficiency of riding school business operations - work closely with administration team to facilitate lessons & requests effectively - promote client participation in BREC events and livery ownership - support & adhere to HKJC and EAD management policies & procedures - Implement, manage and promote the rider development program “BHS Challenge Award Recreational Pathway” for BREC members and conduct the assessments - Collaborate with the Senior Manager Equestrian and administration team to contribute to the financial management of BRRS - Collaborate with the Senior Manager Equestrian and administration team to implement an IT solution, BRRS Management System 7 Manage BRRS Coaches: - prepare agenda and chair weekly coach meeting, approve and distribute minutes - ensure all coaches complete their weekly administration tasks - prepare horse allocations by Saturday 6pm for week ahead - prepare incident report within 24 hours of such event - check daily schooling & lesson attendance records are signed by 6pm daily - ensure each coaches lesson/schooling timetable is kept up to date & recorded accurately 8 Undertake any other duties as assigned by Senior Manager Equestrian or their approved delegates
